Sarah Fields Obituary

On December 1, 1971, a baby girl named Sarah Magdalena Fields was born to Gladys Marie Fields(Law) and Herman Lee Fields. Affectionately known as “Dodie,” she grew up in the Cedar Lane and Houston communities. Dodie attended public school in the Van Vleck Independent School District, graduating in 1990. During her high school years, she earned distinguished "All-American" awards in volleyball, basketball, and track, as well as multiple UIL awards for One Act Play. She also proudly served as the Leopard Mascot.

Dodie accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized by Rev. BB Willis at Greater St. Paul Baptist Church in Latonia, TX (Brazoria). She also attended church at New Zion Temple- Houston,TX and Alpha & Omega Holiness Church- Angleton, TX.

On February 22, 1993, she married Emmanuel Earl Bree, and together they welcomed five children: BraShae Jatrell, Brashard Jarell, X’zanterell Brashjon, Emmanuel Earl, and X’zaphias Lejon’. The family was raised in the Van Vleck ISD community for many years.

Dodie was a pillar in the communities of Van Vleck and Bay City, dedicating her time as a volunteer youth basketball coach and founding TheCrew Riders Trail Riding Group. She opened her home to raise various children, both family and friends. An active member of Bethlehem Christian Church, Dodie served in various capacities, including Vacation Bible School Teacher, Senior Choir member, Youth Drill Team Director, Praise and Worship leader, and Sunday School volunteer. Even as her health began to decline, she remained a devoted attendee, enjoying her pastor’s messages via Facebook Live when unable to attend in person.

On February 19, 2022, Dodie married Terry Eugene Williams, and together they embarked on a family cattle business, T-S Cattle. She looked forward to ranch work, raising Black Angus beef cattle, fixing fences, fishing, supporting her children and grandchildren, cooking, giving back to the children in the community, and hosting family gatherings. Her presence illuminated any room, and many family members sought her wise counsel. She was known for her nurturing spirit and playful affectionately referred to as the “family’s comedian.”

Throughout her career, Dodie worked for several companies, including Zachry Construction, Zachry Industrial Inc., Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Allied Universal, Bay City ISD, and concluded her professional journey with Bechtel until health complications arose.
